Using the Raw Tags feature

Raw Tags is a mode in the mobile application that allows you to view the raw EPC value of any tag.

In version 7.9 of the Simple RFID Preview App, we introduced a new feature called Raw Tags. This feature functions similarly to a regular scan, however the app will display the hex value that is encoded to the tag, without translating them to the corresponding product.

This is especially useful for identifying labels that may not have been encoded correctly or at all by your printer.

To use this feature, you just need to select the "Raw Tags" button on the main screen of the mobile app, then connect your reader as normal:

After your reader is connected, simply pull the trigger on your scanner to scan for tags in the area. If you are trying to troubleshoot a small amount of nearby tags, remember to decrease the power using the slider at the top of your screen, to ensure that you aren't picking up extra tags.

When you've scanned these tags, you will see each unique tag in the list, similar to the example below:

The values from the tags will likely not have any meaning to you in this form; however, you can tap any of the listed values and copy them to your device's clipboard, so that you can easily send them to customer support for troubleshooting if necessary.

If you believe your tags are not being encoded properly by your printer or handheld scanner, please contact our customer support team at support@simplerfid.com
