Setting up the printer
Zebra Desktop Printer (ZD621R, ZD500R)
Script:
- First pull forward on the blue release handles on both sides of the printer.
- Next, fully lift the lid.
- To load the media pull the two blue arms apart and place the roll so that the cardboard core is sitting on both supports.
- Next, move the media guides inward to hold the labels in the center.
- The guides should be tight enough to hold the media in place, but not too tightly for the labels to roll easily.
- Start to unroll the new roll of ribbon.
- Position one end of the ribbon core on the right support with the spring.
- Compress the spring and slide the opposite end into position.
- Now begin to roll the ribbon onto the empty ribbon core included with your printer.
- When replacing the ribbon later you’ll use the empty core from your previous roll.
- Place the ribbon up and over the printhead and place the empty core on the supports behind the printhead.
- Use the blue handle to roll the ribbon back until the black portion is covering the printhead.
Printronix Desktop Printer (Printronix T800)
Script:
- Make sure both cords have both been properly plugged in.
- Locate the buttons on either side of the printer.
- To open it, press them inwards to release the top section and begin loading new labels.
- Start with a new label roll and ensure it is unrolling from the top.
- To properly position the labels within the printer, spread the guides, and securely place the labels between them.
- Slightly unroll the labels and ensure they lay snugly under the small arms on either side of the guides for proper alignment.
- Now let’s move on to the ribbon; unwrap it carefully and locate the second core included with the printer.
- Unroll the ribbon and place the sticky end around the other core.
- Place the new roll of ribbon on the lower ribbon holder on the printer’s top section.
- Be sure to line up the notch on the left side for accurate positioning.
- Put the empty core on the upper ribbon holder and unroll the ribbon with the roller on the left side until the black section is exposed.
- Close the printer securely and before you proceed click the pause button to unpause the job.
- Once the printer has been unpaused, calibrate the printer via the website.
- Calibration can take up to two minutes.
- Once the printer is calibrated it will resume the printing job.
- Do not start another print job until the calibration is complete.
- After the labels are finished printing, locate the feed button on the top of the printer and tear off your finished RFiD labels.
Industrial Printer (ZT410R, ZT411R)
Script:
- Make sure both cords have both been properly plugged in.
- To begin, open the printer face.
- You’ll first need to identify if the printer head is in the open or closed position.
- If the printer head is closed, it will be pushed all the way forward.
- To open it, turn this lever clockwise.
- To begin loading your printer, start with a new roll of ribbon.
- The ribbon is responsible for the text and barcode that appears on your RFID labels.
- It must be loaded in the right direction to transfer correctly.
- You will need to unroll it slightly to expose the black section of the ribbon.
- Load it onto the spool so that it sits flush against the side and pull it through the printer head.
- Then you'll bring it back up and begin rolling it around the spindle up to the black section.
- Once that's in place, you will then load your labels.
- Place the labels on the provided arm and push them flush to the side of the printer.
- Then, push the guide against the labels to hold them in place.
- Be sure that the labels are rolling from the front and then you'll begin feeding them through the printer.
- Take the labels under the metal guide and through the printer head.
- Pull it all the way through, leaving a few labels hanging outside of the printer.
- Once the labels are in place, slide the small guide marked with an orange tab, to align with the labels to secure them.
- Go ahead and close the printer head by turning the small lever clockwise back to the closed position.
- Close the printer face and your printer is ready for calibration.
