Occasionally, the printer's normal Calibrate function will not be able to calibrate to your labels correctly. If you still have alignment issues after calibrating from the website, you may need to run a manual calibration.

- Press the PAUSE key to place the printer OFFLINE (Home Screen).
- Find the Settings icon and press ENTER.
- If you get the message "ENTER SWITCH LOCKED", press the up and down arrow keys together, then wait a moment until “ENTER SWITCH UNLOCKED” displays.
- Find the Sensors icon and press ENTER.
- Select the “Diagnostics” submenu and press ENTER.
- Find “Manual Calibrate” and then press ENTER to start the process.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the LCD and press the ENTER key to move to the next step.
- During the last step of Manual Calibrate, the printer will advance the media and attempt to detect the label length indicators and stop at the Top-of-Form position. The Sensed Distance value will then display for one second. The calibrate is successful when the Sensed Distance value correctly matches that of the installed media. If “CALIBRATION FAIL” error displays, run Manual Calibrate again.

Activate Advanced Mode

Prepare the Printer
- Ensure that the printer power is ON and the media is properly loaded.

Enter Manual Media Calibration Mode
- Press and hold the PAUSE button for two seconds.
- All indicators will flash yellow, and the Status indicator will light solid yellow to confirm entry into the mode.

Cycle Through Available Modes
- Press the FEED button to sequentially cycle through the available modes.

Activate a Selected Mode
- When the desired mode is displayed, press PAUSE to activate it.

Exit Advanced Mode
- Press the CANCEL button to exit Advanced Mode.

- Press PAUSE while the STATUS indicator is lit yellow.

Initiate Calibration
- The SUPPLIES indicator flashes yellow, followed by the PAUSE indicator flashing.

Adjust Media Sensor
- Open the printer and check the media sensor:
- For label/gap (transmissive) sensing, set the sensor to the center position.
- For black-mark or notch media, position the sensor to detect the mark or notch.
- For pre-printed media, adjust the sensor to avoid pre-print areas, ensuring minimal interference.

Prepare the Media
- Remove 80 mm (3 in.) of labels from the liner.
- Place the label-free liner over the platen (drive) roller, ensuring the leading edge of the first label is under the media guides.

Measure the Media
- Close the printer and press PAUSE once.
- The MEDIA indicator flashes while the printer measures the media liner.
- When the process is complete, the PAUSE indicator begins to flash.

Reposition the Media
- Open the printer and adjust the media so a label is directly above the movable sensor.

Finalize Calibration
- Close the printer and press PAUSE once.
ZT410
- On the printer's LCD, navigate to the following menu: Home > TOOLS > SENSORS > MEDIA/RIBBON CAL
- Press the right select button to select START.
- Extend the media approximately 8 in. (203 mm) out of the printer.
- Remove the exposed labels so that only the liner remains.
- Pull the media into the printer so that only the backing is between the media sensors.
- Remove the ribbon.
- Close the printhead by rotating the lever downwards.
- Press PAUSE to begin the media calibration process.
- The printer will begin its calibration. After a few seconds the display will show
- Pull the media forward until a label is positioned under the media sensors.
- Reload the ribbon.
- Close the printhead.
- Press PAUSE to enable printing.
- Press FEED to test if calibration was successful. If one label feeds correctly each time, the printer is properly calibrated.
