Programming tags using the handheld scanner & mobile app

Do you need to program tags to scan as a particular product, but don't have a printer to do it? You can use your handheld RFID scanner and the Simple RFID mobile app! Here's how:

There are two ways of programming tags using the handheld scanner & mobile app; programming tags one-by-one, or programming tags in bulk. Below we'll explain when & how to use each option:

Programming tags one-by-one

This approach is designed to be used when you are programming a small number of tags.

Steps:

Log on to the Simple RFID app. From the home screen click on the Write Tags option

Choose Single Tag Encoding

Pair your RFID reader. Once paired a Search window will appear.

Use the Search window to locate the product you desire to program.

Click on the product, then input the number of tags you wish to program, then click Accept

Next, place a blank RFID tag below the reader's antenna, then click the "Write Tags" button

When the tag is programmed successfully the row will appear green

Once all tags have been programmed a finishing prompt will appear asking if you wish to program more of the same product, or choose another product.  If you have no more tags to program you will click Finish to complete the operation.

Now you can scan these tags with your RFID reader to manage inventory for these programmed items.

Programming tags in Bulk

Use this option when programming many tags.

Log on to the Simple RFID app. From the home screen click on the Write Tags option

Choose Bulk Encoding option

Pair your RFID reader. Once paired a Search window will appear.

Search for the product you wish to program, then select it.

Next, scan the tags to identify how many are available to be programmed.

You may discover that some tags cannot be written. The feature only allows you to program blank tags, not already programmed.

Once the available tags are programmed a pop-up will appear advising you that all tags have been programmed.

You can now navigate back to the home menu by clicking Finish.

Your tags are now programmed and ready to begin being used in your inventory!
